Rius - (pronounced “Rye-yoos”), might be the single-handedly nicest person that you will ever meet. This is a strong statement, yet those who know him well say this with ease and conviction. It only takes a few moments of interaction to realize that he is truly unique and his charm and charisma makes him quite unforgettable.
Rius is a seasoned Pop/R&B artist that has a long vested history in singing and song-writing that started at an early age. Born in the Philippines and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rius began his commitment to music by the time he was five. With a voracious appetite for great music, Rius swiftly discovered his comfort in front of an audience and his yearning to be on stage, and soon realized that he was born to be an entertainer.
His musical resume includes opening for Jordan Knight of “New Kids on the Block,” claiming the #1 single in the summer of 1999 in the South Bay, airplay on San Francisco’s Z95.7, and performing for audiences by the hundreds at major venues like the San Francisco Convention Center, San Francisco Cow Palace, and the Oakland Coliseum. As a prominent performer for his FIlipino community, Rius was awarded “Best upcoming artist” by Ginoong Pilipino in 1999 which lead to a 4 city tour in the Southeast Asia. Most recently, Rius performed at the acclaimed Shoreline Amphitheater in the Fall of 2013, electrifying an audience upwards of 25,000 people.
His wide array of influences include Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, and especially, Michael Jackson. Growing up to Motown, Oldies, and Doo-Wop music, his songs often reflect the nostalgia of better days, yet his unique sound crosses over to the borders of Pop, R&B, and Neo-Soul.
